Date: Sun, 23 Aug 1998 09:01:50 GMT Message-ID: <6rolpt$lks$1@nnrp1.dejanews.com> Here's the basic details of how I got my copy of the NOTS. I should add that I got them in person, by actually walking into the Justice Ministry in Stockholm and asking for a copy. The cost was SEK400 (presumably the extra SEK200 mentioned in Zenon's FAQ covers administrative and postage costs - there are about 200 pages in all, so it's a substantial package.) The address is: Justitiedepartmentet SE-103 17 Stockholm Sweden and the document number is 96/3523. I simply asked for the "Scientologibibeln" (Scientology Bible), which is how it's universally been referred to by the media here - they knew straight away what I was after and fetched me one of a stack of pre-copied NOTS packs. I don't think they take credit cards, as they asked specifically for cash. It should be possible to get Swedish kroner in the US (surely?); if you do send cash, the best way to send it is to put it between two layers of opaque card taped together inside an envelope, and enclose a covering letter. I gather that the Justice Department is the best place to get hold of a copy of the NOTS; the Scientologists are constantly sitting on the copy in the State Archives, and the Parliamentary Library is only open at certain times of the year (e.g. not during midsummer). As I said, they apparently have a pile of copies ready to hand, so the turnaround time should be minimal. The only non-NOTS documents included with the pack are your receipt and a Swedish-language covering minute. I can't read Swedish so I can't tell you what it says, but I assume it's just a standard form stating that the document comes from the state archives and is being made available under the offentlighetsprincip (open government) rules. I haven't had flu yet, but in my time in Sweden I've been bitten by mosquitoes, sunburnt, blistered and had minced reindeer meat dropped on me. Oh yes, and I stubbed my toe once as well. You do not want to do *anything* to give them extra processing costs or difficulties at the far end, which may cause them to throw the request away. |~/ |~/ ~~|;'^';-._.-;'^';-._.-;'^';-._.-;'^';-._.-;||';-._.-;'^';||_.-;'^'0-|~~ P | Woof Woof, Glug Glug ||____________|| 0 | P O | Who Drowned the Judge's Dog? | . . . . . . .
