And they weren't doing much to route bodies, being more concerned with the value of long weekends and having a break (bear in mind that these two are new recruits and the Day org and have yet to experience the reality of *really* being a staff member.) The Scientology half (Perth Org(s) is an upper 1st floor and a basement, Scientology upstairs and Dianetics in the basement). Neither of them have window frontage, just a glass door. +-------------------------------------------+ | | | S World, the money side of Scientology | | | +----------+----------------------+------S--+ | Dn | | www. | | | Trinket Shop +---------+ | Dn | | Scn | | Down | _______STEPS________ | Up | | Stairs |/--------------------\| Stairs | +----------+----------------------+---------+------- Street level | | | D World, the poorer cousin of Scn | +-------------------------------------------+ The Scientology side (the money side) has obtained a *lighted* sign at 90 degrees to the building (at spot marked S) and a full color metal-plate print which is over the door, with www.scientology.org on it. My, they must have really been saving up these last two years. There are so *many* really great spots in the city, but regrettably, they just don't have the money to capitalize on them. The girls? I won't need to send in a KR, because a casual metering will pick it up... After they read about it on the net, of course. S

It was about 5:30pm and the Dianetics door was shut. Maybe they were all upstairs for muster. They had signs indicating that stress and personality tests were all upstairs at the Scientology floor. I took a Kodak DC260 for a spin and photographed the outsides of the org. I'll be posting these on my website with appropriate comments. You'll be able to see the new signs. S

Date: Fri, 16 Apr 1999 14:56:10 GMT Message-ID: <37174f87.15196098@news.m.iinet.net.au> Today I wandered out for lunch at 1:00pm and I noticed that the DIANETICS door was again closed with signs pointing to the Scientology door for the stress test etc. Same again at 5:15. Why is the cult running on half power? Even less staff, or is there something on at the ass-end of this week? S

Date: Mon, 19 Apr 1999 14:37:17 GMT Message-ID: <371b3ecf.10383214@news.m.iinet.net.au> Maybe there is an infestation of Body Thetans at the Dianetics center, because the door was today (Monday) shut with the same signs as was last week. I thought these places never shut up shop! Why is everyone being directed to the Scientology door? Is the local Cof$ dissolving before my very eyes, or are they really being de-roached? S

Date: Fri, 23 Apr 1999 11:45:52 GMT Message-ID: <37205c92.4743792@news.m.iinet.net.au> One more week of the Dianetics Day org door being closed and I'm gonna declare the center officially shut down. Could still be fumigating for BTs or maybe even SO vermin, but we'll see. S
From: fanjet@iinet.com.au (Steve Zadarnowski) Newsgroups: alt.religion.scientology Subject: Countdown to Closure Date: Fri, 30 Apr 1999 16:59:30 GMT Message-ID: <3729dca2.16525454@news.m.iinet.net.au> As I said last week, one more week and I declare the Perth Dianetics centre CLOSED. Two more days to go. In a previous incarnation, the Cof$ site in the city was in fact a single entry with a half floor up to Dianetics and then up to a 1st floor of Scientology, with a storage basement. The new location had separate entry ways for each and no common area. It appears that they no longer have enough staff to man the Dianetics centre and have shut the other floor. The other, less likely reason for this might be that the Dianetics staff have move off to a suburban location to try and establish a mission, seeing the other one failed a few years back. I doubt it. It all seems very off-policy. Me? I'm immensely pleased that they just can't cut it. In reality, if Perth closed up (Scn & Dn), it would be no big deal, because a state like NSW that has a population of 5 million is serviced by a single Scn/Dn centre (the AO doesn't count) and outlying areas (like the major suburban subcentres) are not. Perth would just become another outlying area. Many people aren't very mobile. Some living north of the Sydney Harbor Bridge, a mere 20 miles away from Sydney have never crossed the bridge to the city in 20 years or more. So they say "Scientology? What the fuck is that?" Yes, I'd like to see that being the catch-phrase for Perth in 2001 ... Scientology? What the fuck is that? In fact, I'm sure the local residents on the same street as Scn have been asking that question for years... S

The door has been closed (locked) during the day and I haven't seen body routers on the street for months. I *did* see a new face being taken downstairs by a Scn worker. I imagine this is part of an attempt to kick-start the org back into an operational state. I think they've hit a terminal stage where it would take too many resources and new recruits to pull it off. It will get rolled back into the Scientology side and the separate basement abandoned. S
From: fanjet@iinet.com.au (Steve Zadarnowski) Newsgroups: alt.religion.scientology Subject: Perth Org Report Date: Fri, 25 Jun 1999 15:09:39 GMT Message-ID: <3773995b.187899636@news.m.iinet.net.au> Again, Perth fails to open its Dianetic Centre, whose doors closed nearly three months ago due to lack of staff, which in turn was caused by lack of interest. The door is still locked during the day and no body routers have been seen for some time. Signs continue to appear on either or both doors (Scientology and the defunct Dianetics centre) trying yet again to lure passers-by into thinking there is a job up the stairs just waiting for them. The signs simply say "Positions available - enquire within." Former signs have advertised for "volenteers" at various times, evidently regularly re-worded to account for both misspellings and variety of ways to indicate that somewhere inside lurks a swag of "work" at which one could apply his or her efforts. Remuneration in a Scientology org goes something like, "we might pay you sometime some pittance with a view that things will get better." They never do get better, the trend being to fall short of inflation and even shorter of the former glorious times where a cult volunteer could earn thirty or forty dollars a week in the 1970's. Those times are gone - and so, it appears, have the staff. S
