Leaflets about, against and from Scientology
Leaflets for you to use
The leaflets below are designed to be printed out from Netscape, Internet
Explorer or whatever, and photocopied for easy and quick use. You should
experiment with fonts and font sizes, to see what fills a page or half-page -
I recommend Helvetica (Macintosh) or Arial (Windows), as this typeface
photocopies very well, particularly for copies-of-copies.
Doing lynx -dump [URL] also works quite well with Lynx
versions 2.5 or later.
You will need to adapt some of these for local circumstances and dates. The
best way to do this is to download the file to your machine, then edit
your copy (e.g. in Notepad or Netscape Gold) and load it
in Netscape for printing. Alternately, you can just white-out the
date-specific and locality-specific bits and stick your own local
information in place.
- Lisa McPherson Memorial
Protest - remember to change name, date and location. This one
works well with the list of URLs on the back.
- Who Is
Xemu? (MS Word .DOC file, 128k) - the famous Xemu
leaflet by Roland Rashleigh-Berry. See below for
ideas on spreading this one.
- Other versions of this leaflet are available from Xemu's Page.
- LRH's Birthday leaflet by
Gerry Armstrong - text for you to work with. Directed at the abuses of the
organisation, particularly the 'Fair Game' policy.
- War on the Internet (front and back) - a version of the leaflet I normally
use. Front is a press-release - change the name if you're outside Australia -
and the back is a list of good URLs - this is ready for general use.
(Note: when printing from Netscape onto A4, use Arial 9pt or so.)
- Kristi Wachter: Postcard
Tech - pre-printed postcards to the Californian Attorney
General. Here are the cards,
plus supporting documents on investigations
and convictions.
- To Those Here To Protest At The Church of
Scientology - a leaflet to give to fellow demonstrators (and
Scientologists and police) on how to behave nicely at a demo. Useful for those
who show up without prior warning. (Remember to change my name at the bottom
to yours!)
- Blow The Org - ideas for
a leaflet to hand to agitated CoS staff at the heavier-duty pickets.
Also suitable for enclosing with CoS reader-response forms.
- L. Ron Hubbard In His Own
Words - A selection from Padre Martini's juicy list of LRH
quotes. They really do speak for themselves. This one is ready for general
use.
- Is Scientology a Confidence
Trick? - the leaflet Tony McClelland usually uses in Sydney. If
you are not in Sydney, the local references will need to be changed.
- Why we
picket - by Fier, used in Canberra at the
Thu 12 Aug 1999 and
Fri 17 Sep 1999 demos.
- Melbourne, September 1995
leaflets - the leaflets handed out by the Internet demonstrators.
If you want to write your own leaflet, you should be able to get some useful
material out of this.
- Sydney, March 1995 leaflet
- the leaflet used by Tony McClelland for the March '95 demo.
- Pssst ... Wanna Buy A
Bridge? - rough outline for a general leaflet, by Arnie Lerma.
- Cognitions of a Liberated
Scientologist - one to hit the members with.
- Scientology Homophobia -
useful if your local CoS is in a gay area (e.g. the Washington DC
org).
- Nice
Town, Shame About The Cult - Roland's Poole flyer, a general
flyer to be adapted to wherever you might happen to be.
- Lisa
McPherson: False Data Stripping - by Deana Holmes - "This
flyer is just a reformatted version of a post by Rod Keller. It's suitable
for handing to staff at pickets or giving to your favourite
Scientologist." Also available as a Word
document.
- What Does Scientology Want From
You? - by Roland. "The answer to the above question is
simple. They want MONEY. They want all the money you have. That is just for
starters."
- Vancouver leaflets -
as handed out by Martin Hunt and Gerry Armstrong at the March 1999 pickets
of the Vancouver org.
Leaflets handed out by the Scientologists
- The Facts That Are Not Included In
Reports Of Lisa McPhersons Death - photocopied fax,
single-sided, handed out at December 1997 picket in Brisbane.
- Church Denounces Outrageous
Account of Scientologists' Death - photocopied fax,
double-sided, handed out at December 1997 picket in Melbourne.
- PUBLIC WARNING
- Second leaflet from 'Victims of CultAware'; the CoS's most recent favourite
leaflet, intended to defame Tony McClelland, Stuart Riley and myself. They
seemed to have stopped distributing this one, then pulled it out again
at the December 1997 pickets ...
- December 1996 demo leaflets
- These were handed out at all December 1996 demos:
- Cultaware: Serpent of Fear and
Death - First leaflet from 'Victims of CultAware', substantially
identical to an article on CultAware from the Australian edition of
Freedom. Scientology is mentioned nowhere on the leaflet, of
course. They also turned the front of this one into a T-shirt for the September '96 Sydney demo. This leaflet was handed
out at that demo and has been put into letterboxes in Brisbane, Sydney and
Melbourne.
- Sydney, September 1996
- The Scientologists were handing out all sorts of weird stuff to try to
obscure the purpose of the demo.
- Melbourne, September 1995
- A very hasty and scrappy leaflet handed out by CoS staff: three typo-laden
typewritten sheets, photocopied and stapled in one corner.
