The advantage is that in case of Trouble(tm), you're not risking your real camera.
For Saturday, I forgot my camera (d'oh!) and had to go buy a disposable.
They are very small and convenient, though they are far too expensive to use on a regular basis. A cheap camera will be as good or better.
The picture quality is pretty mediocre-OK, but that's why God gave us Photoshop. They contain the manufacturer's usual 100 ASA or 200 ASA film, and a fixed-focus plastic lens. Certainly as good as any cheap camera with a fixed-focus resin lens.
I bought one with a flash (which almost doubled the price) for front flash-fill, which is useful even on sunny days. I have a lot of experience of extracting the best possible results from cheap cameras ;-)

The advantage is that you don't have to worry about your camera getting stolen or damaged. They're usually lighter too.
And they're tiny. The ones without flash are anyway. But the one I used had a flash and fit in my pocket okay (sticking out).

The problem is risking your expensive camera. Especially now when the scientologists have escalated the business to snatching flyers, spray painting signs, and having PIs put a choke hold on you. Keith Henson
