Thanks! What was snipped in your posting of the orders? It looks like there's another easy to squirrel book. That full hat pack, however, will be hard to squirrel ...

Something interesting to think of is that the tech is static, but warfare changes. Traditional warfare (as in the above tech) doesn't work well with guerrilla warfare. There are several examples. The American Revolution and Vietnam are obvious. Less obvious is Prohibition and the drug war, where law enforcement used more military tech while the opponent was decentralised.

A model of guerrilla warfare is one where one large contestant is fighting a lot of microwars with a large number of small opponents. The microcontestants are a loose alliance even though they are also competing between each other, like a drug war model. In a drug war model, the large contestant is more or less purely military in nature, and the small contestants are military in nature mainly toward the large contestant.

What does this have to do with Scientology? Obviously, the cult is a large combatant waging war on a large number of microcombatants in a military model. In a military model of the cult and critics, each picketer or picketer group is seen by the cult as a military unit to engage. The newsgroup is a "commons" in which a large combatant is trying to squelch guerrillas, so the battlefield is both on the newsgroup and in front of the orgs.

Becuse the cult is thinking in terms of military strategy, they will act accordingly. Consider a picketer.

A picketer group shows up at an org. In the OSA's eyes, it's a group of military units to engage. They will, as seen on one of David Gerard's picket pages, send out a drone (in the military sense here) for either recon and/or as a distraction of "firepower". A commander of sorts will based on the recon results, engage some more combatants, such as call the cops.

When you speak out against the cult, you make yourself a combatant. In this war, information is the weapon of choice for the combatants fighting the cult. The cult uses lawyers, private eyes, etc. as combatants. It's obvious that information exposure is vastly less costly than the cult's trying to stop it. The recent use of a paparazzi-like picket unit looks like cost-cutting - and squirreling of the SP weapons systems.

One strategic move for us would be to besides picket, find other ways to spread information. One way I thought of is a unit I call the singer-disseminator. Here's how it might be described in terms of military strategy.

---begin---

Singer-Disseminator:

Mission: To spread information. May attract paparazzi picketers to bar to embarass themselves. (If found out.)

Weapons: Leaflets, $cientology Kills T-Shirt, Singing Voice.

Theatre of Deployment: Karaoke Bars.

Mobility: Excellent. Uses Personally Owned Armoured Personnell Carrier. (car)

Surprise Potential: Good. May self-deploy in random theatre.

Mode of Deployment: Uses Singing Voice as tactical weapon to attract attention, then Leaflets are deployed. T-Shirt is continuously deployed.

Effectiveness: Unknown. Effectiveness is likely improved depending on deployment of Singing Voice. (Untested unit. I will be the first upon requitioning a $cientology Kills shirt.)

Comments: Unit excellent for end-game after city's org is closed down to maintain military presence.

---end---

Compare to a Picketer:

---begin---

Picketer:

Mission: To spread information, demoralise the opponent.

Weapons: Sign, Leaflets, Camera, Props.

Theatre: Outside of an org.

Mobility: Poor but not really applicable.

Surprise Potential: Good to Poor, depending on past deployments.

Mode of Deployment: More than one unit musters near theatre of deployment, then all units march (sort of) to theatre of deployment, and deploys signs, leaflets, cameras and props.

Effectiveness: Good for both objectives.

Comments: Sounds like fun! :)

---end---

Fun note. All military units, whether real military units or karaoke singers with leaflets have by nature a limited amount of "firepower". It's obvious you want to get the best productivity with available firepower with a minimum of collateral damage. With a GI, it's a matter of when and where to lob a grenade. With a picketer, it's what to put on the sign and leaflet and timing based on org activity. With the singer unit, it's choice of songs to attract attention with.

A consequence of guerrilla warfare is that the large combatant can't optimise firepower productivity against a large number of small opponents. There's no command structure to take out. Also, intelligence is harder as new combatants can emerge at any time, and old combatants can retire, wasting resources of the large combatant with useless intelligence data. A third consequence is that it makes it harder to use large weapons, as it will cause too much collateral damage and/or cause the emergence of new combatants. (Waco ---> Tim McVeigh)

That first point occurred when Scientology attacked the newsgroup with the spamming and the rmgrouper message.

That second point already exises as the OSA has to keep tabs on neutralised combatants watching for them to remain silent after the lawsuits.

That third point is already the case with Scientology and the lawsuits. The original SCAMIZDAT suits caused the emergence of more posters to post the information.

In short, the OSA is going to be thinking in military terms when considering any type of SP activity. In their deluded minds, a British singing accent becomes a tactical weapon of war when used in conjunction with the shirt and/or leaflets.

In the cult's mind, the minute you do or say anything in opposition to the cult, you instantly become some kind of combatant military unit.

The war is expanding!
