I am a Sociologist and I have been a High School teacher for 20 years. I now work as a free lance market-researcher in Frankfurt/Germany. I hit on Scientology a year ago. Why? The "Open Letter To Helmut Kohl" by Hollywood celebrities (including Larry King of CNN), Jan/97, caught my attention. I wanted to find out what Scientology is about. I was completely ignorant at that time. I talked to a friend who said that he had Scientology flyers in his mailbox, "Free showing of the film Orientation". So I went to see that film at the Frankfurt org. After I saw that film, I said to the woman who waited on me: "You believe in former lives, don't you?" She responded: "I don't believe it, I KNOW it, it's backtracking". So I said to her: "Since you KNOW it, what were you in your former life?" But she wouldn't tell me. I said to her: "I would like to have been a Dutch fisherman in my former life, can you backtrack me there?" She said: "That's not the way it works". So I said: "If you can't backtrack me to being a Dutch fisherman in my former life, Scientology is of no interest to me." And I said good buy to that lady. Ever since this visit at the Frankfurt org, I like the Scientologists. At first, I didn't know, what "Scien-tology" meant. Did it mean Science and Logic??? And I didn't know, what "Religious Technology" meant. Did it mean: a machine to salvation??? A.R.S. and the related web pages answered these questions. Why did I post to a.r.s.? Scientolgy is the most dishonest 'humanitarian system of belief and behavior' I came across so far - no contest to any other eccentric group I know of. I posted to expose their dishonesty - mainly in the analytical makeup of their arguments. But basicly I have a moral gut-reaction to Scientology: their "humanitarian" lie pisses me off!
