The latest product from ACME Eternal Batteries, Ltd. is the Camcorder powered by the Eternal Battery(tm). No shitty little NiCads for this camcorder. I took a sealed lead-acid battery extracted from a UPS in which I use a marine battery for said UPS. It's a small battery, but will run the camcorder easily for a picket.
The battery has a shoulder strap (which came with the camera) and is tastefully put in a holder of my own design from a coathanger. I'll gladly label it "Eternal Battery (Sponsored by ACME Eternal Batteries, Ltd. Oslo Minnesota)".
How it works: I took a car battery adaptor, cut off the cigarette lighter plug end, and attached black and red alligator clips to the adaptor. In use, the clips hook to the Eternal Battery(tm) and the device goes where the NiCad goes. When you hook both leads to the Eternal Battery(tm) you then start the camcorder. When attaching the clips to the adaptor, of course make sure red is positive, so you know which is which in the field.
I can't wait for my first picket!
